I finally started receiving maternity benefits after 6 months with absolutely no income. It's already spent though, but we are catching up on the bills and will be able to pay the mortgage so I am pretty pleased.
I slept terribly last night. I keep having really extravagant dreams, but last nights' was the kicker. I was pretty close to being murdered a few times, and I was also a hero. Hmm. And I swam across the ocean. No wonder I'm still tired.
I've been keeping pretty busy the past few days without actually doing anything. I spent 6 hours in the emergency room on Friday waiting for one stupid test result for a minor yet annoying complaint. Finally I told them just to send the results to my family doctor and said I was leaving. They decided to bring me right in then, since my family doctor was actually covering emergency that day.
Anyway so I got my prescription and Val picked me up and we went cruising around town with Kyle, picking up stuff for Holly's bridal shower that took place Friday evening. By the time we got to the shower location I was dead tired, I had only slept for like four or five hours the night before. But the shower went well, better than I expected, although I did ingest too much sugar from the punch and the next day my baby was so hyper I could swear he was pulverising my organs.
I didn't get home until almost midnight, and I think Jamie was upset with me for being gone all day and all night, but there wasn't really much I could do. I wanted to be home sleeping at like six in the evening but unfortunately my ride wasn't going that way!
So I fell asleep within about 11 seconds of laying down and slept until noon on Saturday.
I finally picked up my prescription on Sunday and the pharmacist asked me if I was on birth control. I don't know whether I should be flattered or offended that he couldn't tell I am 33 weeks pregnant... I was even wearing a shirt that says "due in August" right on it, white on black.
Yesterday I had a doctor's appointment so Jamie dropped me off and I played Animal Crossing for a couple of hours. I started doing a crossword puzzle and some old man started talking to me about his diabetes so I was unable to finish it. He talked to me almost the entire way to my doctor's appointment, and here is what I learned: he lived in Calgary, he has a son who made hundreds of thousands of dollars selling porn on the internet, he has diabetes, and he also had a doctor's appointment, but not the same doctor.
The doctor's was fine, I think she is finally starting to like me, because I've only gained 8lbs since I first started going to her. I told her about the giant lady I saw going into the hospital on Friday who looked like she was carrying octuplets and we laughed. I also saw a pregnant girl smoking right outside the emergency room doors on Friday. First of all, if you are going to smoke when you are pregnant, at least hide it. And second, if you are going to smoke at the hospital, go away from the entrance. Annoying.
Anyway, back to Monday. After my doctor's appointment I walked to Canadian Tire. I had to stop almost all the way there and try to cool down. I stopped dead in the middle of the sidewalk holding up my stomach and breathing. As soon as I felt good to walk again I was instantly overheated. By the time I arrived at the entrance I was sweaty and red, and of course that's when you see people you haven't seen for 5 years.
I picked out some paint swatches in Canadian Tire and then stopped at Winner's for a bathroom break. Then I decided I wanted a Smartie McFlurry so I walked to McDonalds and then finally went to Zellers to call a cab to come home. I had planned on spending the afternoon in town, but I was completely zonked by this time. I got home and went straight to bed, and just barely fell asleep when Jamie got home way early from work.
And then we did nothing for the rest of the day, although I think we decided on an orangey color for the nursery. I looked it up on the internet and as long as it's not bright orange, the baby won't be agitated by the color. Yellow agitates babies.
